Can Veneers be Whitened

Smiles are literally greeting cards to the world. When you think about it this way, you should look at the right means to be healthy and beautiful.

Veneers of course, are but one way to make you have a brighter smile and allow you to be more confident. However, you may notice that the veneers are changing in color, and you might wonder if you can whiten them like you do your teeth. Let’s look at the answers.

How Veneers Get Discolored

You may be excited to have a big, white smile. However, what will happen if they begin to change color? What are the causes of such.

Veneers are made from composite or porcelain resin. Porcelain ones won’t become discolored or stained, but composite resin is prone to surface stains, especially if you drink coffee, tea, and red wine.

Can you Whiten These

If you’re someone who is curious about whitening veneers, you’re not alone. You might try at-home whitening and other treatments.

But sadly, composite resins don’t respond well to these.  It’s important to talk to your dentist before you try to whiten teeth, since it does cause sensitivity.

While you can’t whiten these composite veneers, it doesn’t mean that you can’t improve the look of these.  There is professional cleaning to remove the stains, and you can talk to your dental professional for at-home tips for cleaning, and a schedule that’s tailored to your needs.

If they’re really discolored, you may want to replace these.

Taking Care of the Veneers

Veneers are a great solution and are more affordable than a full crown for a lot of people.

However, they do need to be maintained, as they can make a major difference.  You don’t want to have to replace them every decade or so, right?

Well, there are a few ways to help with prevention of stains, and also taking care of them.

You should start to look at veneers, and then treat them the same way that you would your teeth.  Stay away from drinks that are colorful, such as teas and coffee. It also includes pasta sauces, curry, balsamic vinegar, and berries.

That being said, that’s easier said than done for some people, and if you like to have coffee on the daily, you should brush your teeth after that with a toothbrush.  If you’re not currently at home and don’t have access to this, try to rinse with some water to prevent these stains.  Try not to overbrush either, as this can wear them down, putting them at risk for stains in a lot of cases.

With that said, you should treat your veneers with care.  We want to make our smiles look good, and veneers are a great way to bolster confidence. That’s why it’s imperative to take care of them, and in order to avoid discoloration, try to avoid said drinks and foods that’ll stain these veneers.

Try to brush your teeth regularly too, and don’t forget that you should treat them the way that they you want to treat them, like your own teeth.

Make sure as well to see your dentist for regular cleanings. A dentist will prevent this from getting worse, and there are many great ways for you to build the right care that you want to have for this.

When you follow these steps, you’ll realize that it will enjoy the veneers, and you’ll furthermore be able to smile in a proud manner.

Take care of them now, and you won’t regret it in the future, especially for your oral health.
